ANDOVER – Mary Adams of the Maine Citizens Alliance, which is promoting a “yes” vote on the forthcoming Taxpayer Bill of Rights, was the featured speaker at the June 20 meeting of the Oxford County Republican Committee held at the First Congregational Church.
After a dinner provided by the Andover Town Republican Committee, a short business meeting was held dealing with strategies in the fall election campaign. It was also voted to raise the maximum charge paid for county committee suppers from $6.50 to $7.
Among the candidates present were Norm Ferguson, running for county treasurer; House candidates Paula Smith of Andover, Rep. Jim Hamper, R-Oxford, and Rep. Bruce Hanley, R-Paris, along with Senate candidate Len Greaney of Rumford. Also present were Rep. Arlan Jodrey, R-Bethel, and County Commissioner Jeff Fagan of Paris.
A meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 11, at Stan Howe’s residence, 18 Broad St., and feature the annual picnic hosted by the Bethel Town Republican Committee. There will be a 5:30 p.m. social hour followed by the barbecue at 6:30, then the meeting and speaker, State Committee Vice Chairman Dan Schuberth. All area Republicans are urged to attend.
