Kid’s club

WOODSTOCK – A Children’s 5-Day Club, sponsored by Child Evangelism Fellowship, will be held the week of July 10 to 14 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the Pinhook Chapel, North Woodstock. All children ages 5 to 12 are welcome. It is an opportunity to hear Bible stories, learn verses, sing songs and meet new friends. For more information, 665-2281 or 665-2096. College workshop

PARIS – Adults considering college are invited to attend a free college-planning workshop sponsored by the Maine Educational Opportunity Center from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, July 10, at the South Paris Careen Center, 232 Main St.

The center helps adult students overcome class, social, academic and cultural barriers to high education. Services include assistance in choosing a college, tutoring, personal and financial counseling, career counseling, assistance in applying to college, workplace and college visits and assistance in applying for financial aid. Supper, dance

LOCKE MILLS – The monthly supper and dance will be held Tuesday, July 11, at the American Legion Hall, Gore Road. The meal will be served starting at 5:30 p.m. Dancing will follow until 9:30 p.m. with music by the Richard Felt Band. Cost for ages 13 and older is $8 and $3 for age 12 and under.

Blood drive

NORWAY – Stephens Memorial Hospital will hold a blood drive from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, to benefit the Maine Blood Center. The blood drive will be held in the Harper Conference Center in the Ripley Medical Arts Building at Stephens Memorial Hospital. Call Mike Rolfe at 743-5933, ext. 432, to make an appointment.

The Maine Blood Center holds blood drives at Stephens Memorial Hospital twice a year during the seasons where blood shortages are the highest, July and December. Society picnic

WEST PARIS – The West Paris Historical Society will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, July 17. Members should bring food for the grill. Coffee will be provided.

Pandemic forum

PARIS – The Oxford County EMA office will hold a community forum on pandemic influenza from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, at the South Paris Fire Station. There will be a panel available to answer questions, and also informational handouts. For more information, call the EMA office at 743-6336.

Craft fair set

PARIS – The East Otisfield Baptist Church will hold a craft fair to raise funds for a scholarship from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 22, at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, South Paris. Crafts and a white elephant table will be among the items offered for sale. Home-cooked foods and sandwiches will also be available.

Open house

WEST PARIS – The Finnish-American Heritage Society of Maine will hold an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. each Sunday in July and August at the Heritage Center, Maple Street, with the exception of Aug. 20. The public is invited to attend and visit the museum, library and gift shop and to do genealogy.

Bridge results

NORWAY – The Oxford Hills Bridge Club met June 23 in the Fare Share Commons where a five-table Howell movement game was played. It was a charity game, with the benefits going to the Norway Trail Association in memory of Don Johnson.

Finishing first were Anna Cormier and Woody Mercier with Eleanor Griffin and Jim Dickens second. They were also first in flight B and C. Finishing third in flight A were Richard Balian and Eric Sahlberg.

Finishing second in flight B were Carol Curran and Bill Bowman, with Nancy Farmer and Bailey Geeslin, third.

Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge played June 30 with the following results: first, Henry Deutsch and Martha Young; tied for second. Woody Mercier with Anna Cormier and Richard Balian with Nancy Farmer; third, Bev Pelletier and Bev Dolan; fourth: Eleanor Griffin and Jim Dickens. Martha Young and Nick Karamessinis were welcomed back.
