PARIS – The 28th annual Founders’ Day Classic Car Exhibit on Paris Hill will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 15, rain or shine. The exhibit provides an opportunity for the public to view one of the premier private automobile collections in the nation.
More than 60 vehicles will be on display, including Packards, Duesenbergs, Stutz Bearcats, a Tucker, a Thomas Flyer and vintage race cars. Also on display will be rare antique dolls, toys, carriages and more.
Founders’ Day also features dozens of vendors on the village green, offering a variety of wares, including antiques, crafts, art and food. The Parisians are among the free musical guests performing and wagon-ride tours will be available of historic Paris Hill. A variety of activities for children will round out the fun for visitors of every age.
At 1 p.m., the trustees and staff of the Hamlin Memorial Library and Museum will honor the late Schuyler Mott for his years of service and devotion as librarian, dedicating of a plaque in his memory.
Donations to view the automobile collection will be $8 for adults and $2 for children aged 12 or younger. Proceeds from Founders’ Day benefit the Hamlin Memorial Library and Museum, housed in the Oxford County granite jail constructed in 1822.
On the National Register of Historic Buildings, the museum displays artifacts from the area’s early history and famous residents, including Hannibal Hamlin, Lincoln’s first vice president. Some spaces on the Green are still available to rent for Founders’ Day which regularly attracts hundreds of visitors to Paris Hill.
