FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – Jim was born March 20, 1957, in Lewiston, and raised in Portland until the age of eight. His family moved to North Reading, Mass., where he graduated from high school in 1975.
He graduated from Purdue University in 1979, where he majored in statistics and where he met his future wife Cindie Johnson; they were married on June 1, 1980.
After Purdue he worked as an actuary with Equitable Life Insurance in New York until 1987. From 1987 to 1996, he worked for Capital Holding in Louisville, Ky., where he and his family built many lasting friendships. In 1996, he joined Keyport Life Insurance Co. in Boston (sold to Sun Life in 2002) as vice president and corporate actuary. He was active in church and sports and relished his annual trips to Sandy Island Camp with his family.
He was a positive force and true inspiration to all who knew him. He ended his valiant seven year fight with Lymphoma on June 29 at Metro West Hospital in Framingham, Mass.
He is survived by his wife, Cindie of Sudbury, Mass.; his daughter, Rachel of Orlando, Fla.; his son, Nat of Sudbury; his parents, Winston and Mary Greaton of Lewiston; a brother, Everett Greaton and Kathy Bannerman; a brother, Robert Greaton and his wife, Jana and daughter, Hannah; and brother-in-law, Greg Johnson.
