Lewiston – O. Roger Levesque Sr., 81, of Lisbon Falls went to be with the Lord on July 4, with his loving and adoring family by his side.

He was born on May 30, 1925, in Lewiston, a son of the late Omer and Lillian (White) Levesque.

He was raised in Lisbon and attended school there, he graduated from Lisbon High School. He then went on to join the U.S. Navy as an Air Crew man during World War II; he served from 1943 to 1946 and loved it! He was very proud of his country and took pride in the fact that he was able to serve his country. He was a very patriotic man. He adored his grandchildren, but was especially proud of two of his grandsons; Nate who serves in the U.S. Coast Guard in Boston and Jason who is serving in the U.S. Air force in Afghanistan.

He went on to work for Bonafide Mills for 20 years and then to work at the Miller Industries for 25 years. He was instrumental in forming the Lisbon Legion Baseball program. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and Portland Sea Dogs fan. He was the past president of the Lisbon Left Hand Club, Past Commander and member of the American Legion Post 158, past president and vice president of the Slovak Catholic Association, a member of the school board in 1974, the founder of Lisbon Lefties Woman’s Softball Team, a former fireman of many years for the Lisbon Fire Department, an active communicant of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, and was currently working with his wife for the Brunswick Times Record; this he greatly enjoyed.

He enjoyed traveling and visiting Disney. His greatest joy in life was his family; he was very loving and devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He adored them; as they did him.

He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Madelyn, whom he married on Dec. 31, 1949; his six children, daughters, Debby Purinton and husband, Allan, of Durham, Dori Galgovitch of Lisbon Falls, Lynn Thompson and husband, Ralph, of Lisbon Falls, Lu Ann Fleury and husband, Bob, of Lisbon Falls, Patti Moore and husband, Harry, of Lisbon Falls and his son, Roger Levesque Jr. and wife, Carol, of Durham; his 21 grandchildren, Heather, Nathan, Darcy, Deni, Deanna, Vince, Randy, Angie, Mandy, Kristen, Jenna, Michelle, Kelly, Jason, Jennifer, Casey, Andrew, Erica, Kassie, Sabrina, and Christopher; his 16 great-grandchildren, Jessica, Katlin, Nicole, Gabe, Andrew, Lindsay, Kayla, Tyler, Cole, Garrett, Madelyn, Will, Anna, Olivia, Luke, and Noah; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jean Levesque of North Carolina, Connie Doboga of Lisbon, Andy Doboga and wife, Rae, of Lisbon Falls; his cat Sandy; several nieces and nephews; and many close friends.

He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Harold Levesque; and a brother-in-law, Ben Doboga.

A special thanks and appreciation from Roger’s family is extended to Dr. Latafferty, the ICU staff at St. Mary’s Hospital and the ER staff at CMMC for their exceptional care and compassion shown to Roger and his family.
