LEWISTON – William R. “Ron” Wishman, 64, of Lisbon, died Tuesday, July 4, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

He was born Sept. 22, 1941, in Darby, Pa., the son of William L. Wishman and Mereda A. Doricott Wishman Cleary and stepson of John B. (Bernie) Cleary. He was the beloved husband of Andie.

He began his career in Philadelphia, Pa., and worked 23 years in Maine as a Child Protective Worker. He embraced computers and spent the last four years of his career working as a Program Specialist for the Child Protection Agency. Ron loved Acadia National Park, he enjoyed painting scenes from the park and camping within its borders, but he especially loved the lupines in Acadia.

Christmas was his favorite time of year, although his family said he lived it all year long, children would often mistake him for Santa and being that he had a wonderful sense of humor he would often play along. He would not give up a chance to see “A Christmas Carol,” performed. He enjoyed writing, was an avid Civil War enthusiast, an incredible chef, was involved with Basset rescue and absolutely enjoyed the old time radio shows.

He was a connoisseur of single malt scotch whiskey and he was absolutely terrified of wild turkeys, he thought they were out to get him. His biggest love of all was his family.

He is survived by his wife Andie; his mother, Mereda Cleary of Cumberland; his daughter, Carina Wishman Freedner and her husband, Jonathan, of Brunswick; two stepsons, Travis Irish of Lisbon and Toby Irish of Westbrook; two grandchildren, Maxwell and Laurel Wishman Freedner, both of Brunswick.

He was predeceased by his beloved dogs, Basil, Edna, George, Antietam and Pangloss (Groff).
