DURHAM – A Freeport woman suffered minor injuries Wednesday and was charged with operating without a license following a single-vehicle crash that caused a fuel leak and demolished her pickup truck.

Jessica Laird, 19, was driving on Old Brunswick Road late Wednesday morning when she thought an oncoming vehicle was too close to her truck and swerved to the right, said Trooper Scott Gosselin.

Laird’s truck hit the soft shoulder and a culvert and continued into a clump of trees. She was treated for minor facial and upper body injuries at Parkview Hospital in Brunswick and released.

The Durham Fire Department took emergency action for a fuel spill and the Maine Department of Environmental Protection was called to the scene for cleanup, Gosselin said.
