AUGUSTA – Associated Constructors of Maine has won a first place public relations award from The Associated General Contractors of America, marking the fourth time since 1999 that ACM has earned top PR honors among the 100 AGC chapters nationwide.
The award was presented during the AGC of America’s 87th annual Convention in Palm Springs, Calif.
In receiving the 2006 Best Construction Futures Campaign award, ACM was recognized for its leadership role in developing and managing the Maine Construction Careers Alliance, a non-profit program designed to attract youths into construction careers and educational programs, and generally promote a positive industry image.
The centerpiece of the MCCA campaign is a series of television commercials focusing on career opportunities, technological advancements within the industry, and construction’s contributions to society. Prompted by the ads to obtain additional information about construction training and employment, more than 10,000 visitors have logged on to the MCCA Web site at www.buildmaine.org and scores of others have called the MCCA’s toll-free number 1-800240-7021.
The AGC of America represents more than 32,000 firms, including 7,000 general contractors, and over 11,000 specialty-contracting firms.
