NORWAY – Eugene R. Currier, 81, of Norway passed away Friday, July 7, at Stephens Memorial Hospital with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Chesterville on March 4, 1925, to Charles M. and Ethel (Lothrop) Currier. He attended schools in Chesterville and Wilton Academy.
He married Phyllis Lambert on Sept. 18, 1949. She passed away on Feb. 1, 1997.
He had worked for many years as a millwright. He was very skilled and a jack-of-all-trades.
He enjoyed the out-of-doors, hunting, fishing, Red Sox and the Patriots.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 82 of Norway, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was present at the raising of the flag on Iwo Jima while serving his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War ll.
He is survived by two daughters, Lee Anne Reindorf and partner, Jerry Lessard, of Lewiston and Jeanne Elizabeth Currier and partner, Delmarie Carver, of Sylmar, Calif.; one brother, Bernard and Mary Currier of Southwick, Mass.; three sisters, Mae Woods of Suffield, Conn., Altene Edwards and partner, David Barker, of Norway and Marie and Charles Millett, also of Norway; two grandchildren, Michael Knightly of Hemet, Calif. and Diana and Ronald Ingels of Corona, Calif.; one great-grandson, Jason Knightly of Hemet, Calif.; several nieces, nephews and special friends.
He was predeceased by a son, Michael E. Currier; two brothers, Oscar Dudley and Floyd Currier; and one sister, Elsie Day.
