Auburn – Joline S. Janelle, 66, of 231 Seventh St., died Friday, July 7, at her home with her family by her side.
She was born in Auburn Feb. 7, 1940, a daughter of the late Edward and Ruth Gill Genesse. She was educated in Auburn schools and graduated from Edward Little High School, Class of 1958.
She was a very active member of the Auburn Catholic Community at St. Louis Parish, where she was the first woman to be voted onto the parish council. In addition to coordinator for the CCD program, she prepared many of the parish teenagers for the Sacrament of Confirmation. She was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne’s Sodality and a Rivier Associate. She was also a eucharistic minister.

She loved visits from her children and grandchildren. Once the children were grown, she would enjoy long rides with her husband, never sure where they would end up. She loved to cook, especially the family favorites, hot milk cake and whoopie pie cake.
She will be remembered for her kindness, compassion and unconditional love. She was very strong in her faith and in her devotion to her family. She showed remarkable courage and dignity in dealing with Alzheimer’s disease. She was the strength of the family, an extraordinary wife, mother, grandmother, friend and role model.
