PORTLAND – John C. Sargent, 81, of Auburn died Friday, July 7, three days after having surgery. Two months prior, his beloved wife of 63 years, Louise, died.

He was born Dec. 18, 1924, in Sorrento. He was the son of Charles and Mimmie Sargent.

He moved his family from Hancock to Auburn in 1960, where he resided the rest of his life.

John was best known for his generosity of doing for others and his passion for animals.

He is survived by his loving family, son, John “Lindy” Sargent and his wife, Barbara; daughter, Karen S. Perry; nieces, Sharon Bazinet and Nancy Couture; grandchildren, Chris Perry, and Matt and Amber Sargent; and many great-grandchildren.
