MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) – Adam Lind and David Smith knocked in two runs apiece and Dustin Majewski went 3-for-4, knocked in a run and scored twice as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats topped the Portland Sea Dogs 6-3 Monday.
Lind added a two-run homer as New Hampshire (39-50) took the final game of a five-game series after dropping three straight to the Northern Division leading Sea Dogs (52-36).
David Purcey (3-2) earned the win, allowing three runs (one earned) on three hits over six innings, striking out eight and walking three, while Tracy Thorpe picked up his seventh save.
Luis Mendoza (0-3) took the loss, allowing five runs on 10 hits, striking out two over 4 1/3 innings.
Portland forged ahead 2-0 as Luis Jimenez scored on an error in the second and Chris Durbin added a solo shot in the third.
Lind tied it with his two-run shot in the bottom of the third.
and New Hampshire took control in the fifth as Majewski notched an RBI single and Smith followed with a two run single for a 5-2 advantage.
An RBI ground out from Jimenez cut the lead to 5-3 in the sixth, but Brad Hassey answered in the bottom of the frame with a single scoring Manny Mayorson for New Hampshire’s sixth and final run.
