AUBURN – Muriel C. Martel, 74, of 85 Caron Lane, Auburn died Saturday, July 8, at the Odd Fellows Nursing Home.

She was born in Auburn on Aug. 31, 1931, the daughter of Lucien J. and Rosida (Rousseau) Martel.

She was educated in Auburn schools. She delivered newspapers as a child, had worked as a dime store clerk in her early teens, also was a delivery driver for local businesses, worked for several shoe manufacturers and for seven years owned a toy vending business M&M Toys supplying central and southern Maine.

She was a drummer in the Babe Sutherland Orchestra and several other bands. She was never married. She enjoyed camping, traveling and ballroom dancing.

She is survived by a sister, Irene Cass of Auburn; and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by both her parents; and a brother, Paul R. Martel in 1977.
