Lewiston – Florian “Joe” Plourde, 84, of Monmouth, died on Monday, July 10, at Central Maine Medical Center.

Joe was born in Canada on July 15, 1921, the son of Arthur and Cedelice (Dofour) Plourde. He proudly served his country in the Army in World War II. Joe worked as a carpenter and did roofing and siding. During the winters, he liked to build bat houses as a hobby.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Grace (Dennison) Plourde; brothers, Roger, Gerard, Raymond, Richard, Maurice; and sisters, Aurora Cornish, Marie Longley, Germaine Mason, Rolande Lachance, and Dorothy Barnhard.

Joe was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Lucien, Fernand, Marcel; and sisters, Janet Melley, Dolores Plourde, and Anita Willis.
