DIXFIELD – One person was injured in a two-vehicle accident late Wednesday afternoon on Weld Road.

Sandra Gerald, no age available, of Dixfield, was transported to Rumford Hospital by Med-Care Ambulance Service for treatment of injuries suffered when the 1992 Dodge sedan in which she was a passenger was hit by a pickup.

A hospital spokeswoman said Gerald was in good condition at 6 Wednesday evening.

The vehicle, driven by Lenny Arsenault, no age available, also of Dixfield, was heading south on Weld Road when the car was rear-ended by a 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by James Irish, no age available, of Carthage.

Arsenault had stopped for a 2000 Chrysler van driven by William Hoyt of Temple. Irish didn’t see Arsenault’s stopped vehicle because he was distracted by the pedestrian crosswalk, said officer Jeff Howe of the Dixfield Police Department.

The pickup sustained about $3,000 damage; the sedan about $1,000 in damage.

Howe said charges of parking unnecessarily in a public way may be brought against Hoyt because his vehicle was stopped in the middle of the road.

Also responding to the accident were several members and a fire truck from the Dixfield Fire Co.
