PORTLAND – Everett A. Trask, 82, of Auburn, died Tuesday, July 11, at Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Lewiston on June 22, 1924, the son of Harold and Laura Pratt Trask.

He attended schools in Lewiston and Auburn and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1942. A veteran of World War II, he joined the U.S. Army after graduation and as an Army medic he fought in the Battle of the Bulge. After the surrender of Germany, he was transferred to the Pacific Theater and for a time served with troops that occupied Japan after that countrys surrender in 1946.

He received an honorable discharge in 1946, and enrolled in pharmacy school. Upon the completion of his studies he entered upon a career as a pharmaceutical salesman for several years. He then became the owner and operator of the Minot Country store. He sold the store in 1954, and for the next 50 years he was employed as a pharmaceutical salesman.

He was very active in community affairs and served two terms as a member of the Auburn City Council and two terms as a member of the Auburn School Committee. He also served as a member of the Auburn Board of Appeals and the Auburn Water District.

A man of many talents and interests, he was an avid skier, bowler, carpenter and electrician. As a member and past master of Tranquil Lodge in Auburn, the Valley of the Androscoggin Ancient and Accepted Scottish in Auburn, and Kora Shrine in Lewiston. He was a very active and dedicated member of the Masonic Fraternity. He took part in many of the Scottish Rite Degrees presented by the Valley of the Androscoggin and was actively involved in the annual Shrine Circus and Lobster Bowl sponsored by Kora Shrine.

In recognition of his outstanding service to Freemasonry and his dedicated service to the welfare of all mankind, he was coronated a 33rd degree Scottish Rite Mason by the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry in Milwaukee, Wis. on Sept. 25, 1990.

Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Jane Ann Mynahan Trask; three daughters, Paula White, Susan Miller and Sheila Hinkley; six grandchildren, Christian, Abby, Scott, Shawn Jr., Corey and Meaghan; two sisters, Arlie Thurston and Methyl Small; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceaesed by two brothers, Floyd and Bernard Trask.
