Ludicrous is the word! In these days of high technology, it seems ludicrous that one can “save it to a disk” and never lose anything but the disk. Has the government lost its disk?
The veterans’ monument in West Paris has no more room for names and has not been updated since the Korean War. A new monument is planned, but locating the names of those who have served in the military in the last 40 years is, at this time, “mission impossible.”
Everyone I’ve asked for assistance has a suggestion: the state archives, the Maine National Guard, Sens. Collins and Snowe, the Veterans Administration, the town office, etc. So far the suggestions have led nowhere.
Surely there must be a “disk” somewhere.
A computer hacker could probably find the information in seconds, but this old Mainer, who still owns a manual Smith-Corona, needs help!
