This is in response to two articles that have appeared recently in the Sun Journal.

The first was the July 7 editorial. The second, the front page article July 10, “L-A to show its support for Somalis.”

The Sun Journal viewpoint leaves a lot to be desired. The honest, hard-working people of this area would certainly disagree with the notion “It’s been a terrific four years for Lewiston.”

You were kidding, right?

I challenge the Sun Journal staff to interview people who really know what is going on. Start with the social agencies, head over to the Department of Motor Vehicles, and finish up with the people who have a lot to say and are not afraid to say it.

The American Dream is being handed to immigrants and they know how to exploit the system. That is why some people here are reaching a boiling point.

In my opinion, the front-page piece set the stage for more of the same from the Many and One Coalition, which no doubt speaks for a few, but ends up yielding a wide swath of public dissent. Here comes the national media. Let’s control those racists up there in Maine.

There is no excuse for what occurred at the mosque. No group should be subjected to immoral behavior. I have never witnessed the extent of racial inequality claimed by certain groups of people, but I have heard quite an earful of public disapproval of the immigrant population.
