YORK – Jean C. Ross, 83, of Kittery and formerly of Rumford for many years, died Saturday, July 15, at York Hospital.
She was born in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada, a daughter of Wilfred and Viola (Welton) McKenna, and attended Rumford schools.
Jean had been employed at Diamond Match Corp. in West Peru, later at Newbury’s Department Store, then at Rumford Community Hospital in the laundry department in Rumford, and then at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in the cafeteria until retirement in 1985.
Jean attended St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Rumford and was an avid beano player.
She was married to the late Sylvio Ross, who died Jan. 27, 2005, in South Paris.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Ross of Eliot; four sons, Earle Hansen and wife, Joanne, of Mexico, D-Lawrence Ross of Acton, Gary Ross of Kittery and Bruce Ross of Rumford; six grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Gilbert and Ann Dawson of Rumford; two brothers, Carroll “Carl” McKenna of Mexico and Walter McKenna and wife, Carol, of Auburn.
