AUBURN – Ren L. Morin, 83, of Lewiston, passed away Friday, July 14, at the Hospice House after a long illness.

He was born in Lewiston on April 25, 1923, the son of Joseph and Sophie Couturier Morin. Ren grew up in the Lewiston area and attended Lewiston schools. He also attended Bliss College in Lewiston as well.

On Aug. 14, 1943, he married Carmen I. Bosse Morin, and they started a family together. Ren worked many odd jobs but primarily for Commonwealth Shoe for many years as a hand sewer and inspector. His most recent job before his retirement in 1986 was as warehouse manager for Polar Paints.

Ren enjoyed family gatherings at his camp on Sabattus Pond. He also loved winters spent at his home in Fort Myers, Fla. His hobbies included woodworking, crafts, playing cards, camping, boating and making puzzles. He was also a very dedicated New England Patriots fan.

He is survived by his wife, Carmen, of 62 years; five children, Pauline Wheelington of Poway, Calif., Jo-An Stavros and her husband, Arthur, of Tamarac, Fla., Claire Thorne of Mechanic Falls, Claudette Blais and her fianc, Charlie, of Auburn, and Richard Morin and his wife, Lora, of Turner; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Ren was predeceased by two sisters, Diane Myska and Rita Sullivan; and two grandchildren, Shawn Pratt and Brent Wheelington.

The family would like to thank all of the nurses, staff and Dr. Austin of the Hospice House in Auburn for their compassionate care and support.
