Community party
LEWISTON – The Visible Community will host a community party from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, at the Knox Street garden. The garden is located on Knox Street between Maple and Birch streets.
There will be food, games for children and a short parade that will introduce everyone to some of the downtown neighborhood’s history and how it is changing. The party is free and open to the entire community.
The Visible Community – downtown residents, business people, community activists and other persons concerned about the quality of life in downtown Lewiston – have been meeting for two years 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday at the B Street Center, corner of Bates and Birch streets.
Current projects include development of affordable housing in buildings and on lots now vacant, particularly the Androscoggin Mill Block at Park and Maple streets; and enlisting ideas from downtown residents for a master plan for the development of the downtown to ensure adequate housing, green space, employment and social services.
