I was saddened to read of the recent deaths, within hours of each other, of two former Auburn city councilors.

Alvin Gilbert and Everett Trask were, in my experience, capable and knowledgeable representatives of the city. As the Auburn Public Library board chairman during their periods of service, I greatly appreciated the assistance and consideration given the library as we strove to move forward during difficult financial times. Without the help of these two councilors, as well as others, the APL would not be as strong as it is today.

They served all the citizens of Auburn well, and will be remembered gratefully.
