Tuesday night’s Planning Board meeting was dedicated to the continuing subdivision proposal on Porter Lake. Board members reviewed the application with a standard statewide 20-point criterion for subdivision developments. All points were accounted for in the application.
However, nine additional concerns were expressed during the meeting, the most important of which included a letter from a certified well-driller verifying accessible water, a storm water plan, a road profile and a soil erosion plan. The application will not be considered complete until the completion of these plans.
Upon completion and resubmission of the application, Planning Board member Wayne Drake said the town has 30 days to hold a public hearing to vote on the matter. The board hopes to know when the application will be resubmitted by the next meeting on July, 25.
Philips: Spending OK’d
There was a special town meeting this week to vote on raising $10,000 to computerize the town office. Another motion to raise and appropriate $18,000 for the town manager also was proposed. Both motions passed.
In the selectmen’s meeting, the fire department expressed the need to purchase a carbon monoxide monitor. Town Manager Karen Olivieri said the committee would look for grants to cover the purchase; otherwise, the town would have to purchase it.
The selectmen also opened up discussion on increasing ambulance staffing in town. Currently, there is staffing in town from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., leaving 12 hours when the town is without staffing.
A new emergency management plan was submitted for review and will be discussed at the next selectmen’s meeting on July 25.
Rangeley: Expansion stalls
The Eagle Sports Shop expansion application has been postponed after the Planning Board’s public hearing on Wednesday night. The major issue discussed in the meeting was the amount of traffic movement the expansion would bring.
The Camp Rangeley application has been withdrawn, said code enforcement officer Robert Griscom. The owners are considering revisions before resubmitting their application at a later date.
