BANGOR – Carroll D. Nightingale, 63, of Patten, died July 18 in Bangor with his family by his side.
He was born on June 22, 1943, in Portland, the son of Herbert and Methel (Harris) Nightingale.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during Vietnam with the Special Services.
He was a longtime teacher, principal, coach and retired as superintendent of SAD 25.
He was an avid golfer and gentleman farmer.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years Linda (Hodge) Nightingale of Patten; one son, Christopher Nightingale of Wakefield, Mass.; one sister, Donna Lane; one brother, Leslie and his wife, Dixie Nightingale, all of New Sharon; many nieces, nephews and cousins; two golf friends, Terry Duffy and Chet Chase.
He was predeased by his parents; his stepfather Claude Mitchell; one brother Stanley; and one sister Elizabeth Cranton.
