CONCORD, N.H. (AP) – A mosquito pool in Danville has tested positive for Eastern equine encephalitis – the first indication of the virus in the state this year.
The discovery is not unexpected. The disease was first identified in the state in 2004. Last year, there were seven cases of Triple-E in New Hampshire, including two deaths.
State Health and Human Services Commissioner John Stephen said the best way people can protect themselves is to use wear insect repellent and wear long sleeves and pants while outside at dusk and dawn, when mosquito activity is at its highest.
