AUBURN – Vernon W. Becvar, 76, died early Wednesday morning, July 19, at the Androscoggin Hospice House after a very short illness.

He was born in Marshall County, Iowa, on Nov. 30, 1929, the son of Winslow and Irene (Nehring) Becvar.

Following his education, he joined the U.S. Navy where he served 17 years until his disability.

He then started his electronics shop on Lisbon Street which he operated for several years.

He then retired to Florida in the early 80s. He loved to travel, go camping, search genealogy, and attend family and military reunions.

Survivors include five sons, Raymond Becvar and his wife, Kathy, of Lewiston, Richard Becvar and his wife, Jeannine, of Greene, James Becvar I, of Auburn, Dana Becvar and his wife, Diane, of Auburn, Kevin Becvar and his wife, Mona, of Poland; three daughters, Juanita Bradstreet of Lewiston, Sherry Donovan and her husband, Brad, of Durham, and Belinda Becvar of Auburn; two sisters, Mary Morgan and her husband, James, of Quimby, Iowa, and Fern Harrison and her husband, Ken, of Las Cruces, N.M.; 19 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
