LEWISTON – The city announces that Code Enforcement Officer and Sanitarian Kim Austin was presented with a 2005-2006 Wiley Achievement Award at the 110th annual Conference of the Association of Food & Drug Officials held in June.

The Association of Food and Drug Officials, established in 1896, fosters uniformity in the adoption and enforcement of food, drug, medical devices, cosmetics and product safety laws; rules; and regulations to ensure the best public health and consumer protection in the most expeditious and cost-effective manner.

Austin was presented with the award for her exemplary performance in addition to meeting such criteria as being within the first five years of service within her profession and being a field person; that is, one who goes out of the office to make inspections a significant portion of her working time.
