EAGLE RIVER, Ala. – Gerard J. Caron, 75, of Eagle River, Ala., died June 29 from complications due to Alzheimer’s.

Born on Aug. 29, 1930, to Jules and Anna Caron of Auburn, he moved to Alaska in 1977 and worked for various oil companies on the North Slope until his retirement in 2000.

He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed woodworking, flower photography, outdoor recreation in Alaska and singing in church groups.

Survivors include his wife, Fernande; son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Susan Caron of Sabattus; daughters and sons-in-law, Louise and Charles Osborne of Nebraska, Donna and Raymond Fernandes of California, and Lisa and Dominic Menapace of Alaska; grandchildren and their spouses, Craig and Sara Caron, Amanda Caron, Andrew and Kiya Osborne, Meganne Fernandes, Matthew Fernandes and Ashley Menapace; siblings, Sylvio Caron, Donald Caron, Robert Caron, Juliette Dargie and Lorraine Obie; and great-granddaughters, Olivia and Sophie Caron.
