AUGUSTA (AP) – A weekend accident involving an all-terrain vehicle has left a 23-year-old man dead and his female passenger injured.

A woman jogging along a dirt trail near the Augusta State Airport on Saturday spotted the body of Eric Breault of Augusta and the injured rider, the Maine Warden Service said.

The girl, who appeared to be in her teens but whose name was not immediately released, was flown by helicopter to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

Sgt. Patrick Devlin of the warden service said Breault was driving the all-terrain vehicle when it came over a rise and then hit a pine tree that had been toppled by a hailstorm several days before.
