NEW YORK (AP) – An off-duty police officer fired 11 bullets into his girlfriend’s door and was arrested on charges including reckless endangerment, police said.

Joel Rodriguez, 26, was undergoing a psychological evaluation at St. Vincent’s Manhattan Hospital early Monday, said police Officer Martin Speechley. No one was injured in the attack, he said.

The off-duty officer was arrested on charges of criminal possession of a weapon, criminal mischief and reckless endangerment following the Sunday morning incident, police said.

Rodriguez reportedly was upset that someone else was inside the home, near the Red Hook section of Brooklyn. Police said it was not immediately clear whether the girlfriend was in the house at the time.
