• Christina Eaton, 30, Rumford, Rumford District Court warrant charging two counts of writing bad checks, 1:30 p.m. July 19 on Route 232. She failed to post $250 cash bail and was taken to Oxford County Jail in Paris. She is to be arraigned on Oct. 3 in Rumford District Court.

Accidents

• July 19, 7:23 p.m. – A 1990 Chevrolet pickup operated by Clifton Chapman, 43, of Rumford, broadsided a 1999 Chevrolet Camaro, driven by Valerie Batty, 47, of Mexico, at the intersection of Cumberland Street and Essex Avenue. According to witnesses, Chapman pushed Batty’s car further out into the street with his truck, fled the scene, then walked back after parking his truck at his home, Patrolman Matt Noyes said on Thursday.

Noyes summoned Chapman, who was not injured, on charges of operating under the influence and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident. Batty, who complained of neck and back pain, was taken by Med-Care Ambulance to Rumford Hospital.

Noyes estimated damage to the Camaro at $4,800; to Chapman’s truck, $1,000.
