LEWISTON – Raymonda B. Martineau, 105, of Lewiston, died Wednesday, July 26, at d’Youville Pavilion.
She was born in Lewiston on May 4, 1901, the daughter of Napoleon and Adelia Labrecque Fortier. She was raised and educated in Lewiston and graduated from the Cours Preparatoire of St. Peter’s.
On June 9, 1930, she married Philippe Martineau who died May 23, 1973. As a young woman she worked in the office of P & P Fuel Co. She retired to become a homemaker. She especially enjoyed sitting on her front porch in the company of her sister-in-law Pauline Martineau and other tenants of her apartment building. She also enjoyed the visits from her great-nephew, David Gervais.
Survivors include her son-in-law, Gerard R. Pineau of Lewiston; two grandchildren, Robert and his wife, Susan Pineau, of Portland and Stephanie and her husband, Jack Gallagher, of Nobleboro; many nieces and nephews; four great-grandchildren, Bradford and Nicole Pineau of Portland, Tegan and Aidan Gallagher of Nobleboro.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Monique Pineau; three brothers, Dominique Fortier, Edward Fortier and Joseph Fortier; and two sisters, Sister Rose de Lima and Mrs. Claire Lemaire.
