DERRY, N.H. (AP) – Police are looking for burglars who broke into the historic Robert Frost Farm in Derry this week, threw a party for themselves and stole some items.
Police say someone broke into the 19th century farm sometime between Sunday and Tuesday, stealing a vintage velvet shawl, a rare pot scrubber and a button hook used to fasten buttons on shoes and shirts.
Laura Burnham, chair of the farm’s board of trustees, says she found beer bottles and several matches on the floor. She believes the intruders tried to light a kerosene lamp that did not contain any fuel.
Frost lived there from 1900 to 1909 and the farm is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
