FREEPORT – Virginia Hall Vosmos, 74, of 576 Hodgson Road, Pownal, died Wednesday, July 26, at Freeport Nursing Home.
She was born in Pownal, Feb. 7, 1932, a daughter of George L. and Lillian Swaim Pike. She graduated from Freeport High School.
She and her first husband, George Hall, operated the BP Gas Station in Lisbon Falls for several years. Mr. Hall died Dec. 19, 1980. She married Thomas Vosmos in Durham in 1990.
She worked at Eastland Shoe in Freeport, was a nurse’s aide in area nursing homes and retired from L.L. Bean.
She was a longtime member of the First Parish Congregational Church in Pownal, where she sang in the choir. She was a former 4-H Club leader, a member of the Organic Farmers Assoc. and Granite Grange 37.
She grew herbs and did organic gardening. She loved working outdoors, spinning, making baskets, photography, wood carving, painting, feeding the birds and hunting.
She is survived by her husband of Pownal; a daughter, Susan Morgan and her husband, Richard, of Bowdoin; a son, Tony W. Hall of Pownal; a brother, Ernest Pike of Florida; three grandchildren; a great-grandson; and six stepchildren, Craig Vosmos of Pownal, Bruce Vosmos of New Gloucester, Thomas Vosmos Jr., of Durham and Patti Peaslee, Evelyn Wheeler and Barbara Peaslee, all Pownal.
She was predeceased by a son, Allen Michael Hall in 1975; and a brother, Harvey Pike.
