BANGOR – Matt Lee belted three hits to lead South Portland to a 7-1 win over Auburn Suburban in the opening game of the Junior Division of the State Little League Tournament on Friday.
Lee also picked up the win for South Portland, striking out nine batters over five innings.
Ryan Arnold had an RBI single in the fourth inning to drive in Auburn Suburban’s lone run. Matt Gordon suffered the loss. He allowed six unearned runs and struck out five in the four innings he worked.
Auburn Suburban plays a loser’s bracket game at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
