LEWISTON – Kenneth R. Libby Sr., 88, of 36 Allen Ave., died Wednesday, July 26, at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Auburn, Oct. 26, 1917, the son of Frank Milon Libby and Phyllis R. Plummer. He was educated in Auburn schools, graduated from Edward Little High School and pursued his studies at Bates College, where he graduated in 1939 with a degree in chemistry. He was married to Florence Edwards in Wilmington, Del., November 21, 1940, and was employed as a chemist at DuPont Corp. for 20 years, and retired from Mineral Pigments Co. in 1972. He was a past master of his Masonic Lodge in Maryland, and also a lay minister in the Methodist church. He was an avid Red Sox and Maryland basketball fan and played pinochle and bridge.

He is survived by his wife, Florence of Lewiston; a daughter, Barbara Scanlon of Ferndale, Md.; two sons, Kenneth R. Libby Jr. and wife, Donna, of Lewiston and David Libby and wife, Barbara, of Ellicott City, Md.; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
