BATH – Romain Maurice Lamarre, 81, of Nathan Way, Topsham, died Thursday, July 27, at Winship Green Nursing Center.
He was born in Brunswick, on Oct. 5, 1924, a son of Edward and Alice Tremblay Lamarre. He attended Brunswick schools and faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and served in the Battle of the Bulge. After the war, he entered the Army Reserve in 1950, and served until Jan. 30, 1981, and retired as a master sergeant. He served in the 76th Committee Group (BCT) and the 76th HQ Division, TNG.
After his military duty, he was employed at the Portland Shipyard and later U.S. Gypsum in Lisbon Falls, where he retired from the maintenance department as a supervisor, with over 40 years of employment. After retirement, he worked parttime at Technivet in Brunswick, until November 2002.
He was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He also bowled in a bowling league at Yankee Lanes. He enjoyed his family, grandchildren, working, bowling traveling, animals and contributing editorial letters to the Lewiston Sun Journal.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine (Hargraves) Lamarre of Topsham; three daughters, Sheila A. Behounek of New Gloucester, Tracy A. Lenzi and her husband, Tony, of Simsbury, Conn. and Jennifer L. Lamarre of Lisbon Falls; two brothers, Richard Lamarre and his wife, Constance, of Brunswick and Ronald Lamarre of Bangor; four sisters, Doris Vanasse and her husband, Henry, of Woonsocket, R.I., Nancy D’Allessio and her husband, Dominic, of Brunswick, Fleurette Brillant and her husband, Gerald, of Brunswick and Jacquelyn Bisson of Brunswick; and four grandchildren, Andrew Lamarre of Lisbon Falls, Taylor Smith of New Gloucester and Kira Lenzi and Maura Lenzi, both of Simsbury, Conn.
He was predeceased by a brother, Roger Lamarre; and two sisters, Bernadette Nolan and Violet Martin.
