AUBURN – The Child Health Center’s Big Brothers Big Sisters Program held an end-of-year breakfast for their Lewiston matches. It was a celebration of the many friendships that have formed over the last year.
More than 70 “Bigs” and “Littles” from Lewiston schools and mentoring after-school programs joined in the Lewiston High School cafeteria. This event was made possible by the support of many, including the Child Health Center, Lewiston High School, volunteers and the Hudson Bus Line, which transported all of the “Littles” to the high school from the elementary schools.
It was a time to gather, share the experiences of the last year and to be recognized for being a part of the program. The morning included a continental breakfast of homemade muffins, doughnuts and juice, along with time to meet community members who have helped support the Big Brothers Big Sisters program this year.
The event was topped off with each receiving a goodie bag that included gift certificates, donated by area businesses.
The program is one of the many Child Health Center Big Brothers Big Sisters school-based mentoring programs throughout Androscoggin, Oxford, southern Franklin and northern Cumberland counties. The programs match adults and high school students with elementary and middle school students for an hour a week at a school.
