NASHUA, N.H. (AP) – Olympian Bode Miller traded ski slopes for left field and ended up making the catch of the game for the Nashua Pride.

The Pride signed the New Hampshire native to a one-game contract for Saturday’s minor league game against the Brockton Rox. It was designed as a gimmick to boost the Pride and to help Miller raise money for charity. Bode did both, doubling the normal attendance and collecting $5,000 for cancer research.

Miller didn’t get any hits, but he stole one from Brockton when he made a leaping catch, then tumbled onto the warning track in left field. The crowd went crazy and Millers teammates mobbed him.

“It’s fun to watch, but it’s more fun to play,” he said.

Nashua won 12-2.
