AUBURN – Thirty area children were able to attend summer camp at Central Maine Community College because of members of the Auburn Fire Department.

Firefighters Union Local 797 provided $3,000 from its children’s fund, with which the college was able to grant the scholarships.

Campers are participating in the entire range of activities offered by the summer camps, which run through Aug. 25.

Ashley Gagnon attended soccer camp. “It was even more fun than I thought it would be,” she said. “I think it’s really nice that they could give scholarships.”
