JAY – The Jay-Livermore-Livermore Falls Chamber of Commerce will meet at 7 a.m. Friday, Aug. 4, at the Jay Community Building, sponsored by the town of Jay.

The breakfast meeting will feature Tim Madden, human resources, training, safety and loss control for Ranor, and Greg Swenson, SAD 36 high school teacher. They will explain the innovative business education program they are creating.

Madden said, “Local businesses partnership with the program for support and guidance (support doesn’t have to mean money). In today’s work environment, as a group of businesses, we throw away plenty of training support just because we can’t afford to do anything else. It costs too much money to keep it around.”

The schools and businesses will join forces to utilize the resources in the partnership, which starts in middle school and ends at the community college level.

They will discuss what basic life skills students will gain in the program. The courses will combine hands-on and theory training in and out of the classroom setting.

Paula Coombs will be the featured Member in the Spotlight. She will discuss the VIP Program – how it works, who qualifies, local challenges and goals. She will also discuss volunteerism in general and local project needs.

Those wishing to attend should RSVP the chamber by Wednesday, Aug. 2, at 897-6755 or by e-mailing [email protected].
