Auburn – Muriel D Jensen, 70, of Reid Street, Lisbon, died Monday, July 31, at The Hospice House with her family by her side.
She was born in Lewiston on Nov. 29, 1935, the daughter of George and Sadie (Berube) Fontaine. She was a graduate of St. Dom’s, Class of 1953, and then graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1956. Throughout her career, she worked as an R.N. in local nursing homes as well as St. Mary’s Hospital and was a member of Holy Trinity Church. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren and also enjoyed doing crafts. She also enjoyed spending time with her dog, Alex.
She leaves three daughters, Regina McTeague and husband, Patrick, of Philadelphia, Pa., Lynne Fuller and husband, William, of Lisbon and Melinda Barlow and husband, Michael, of Auburn; two sons, Richard Jensen of Lewiston and Robert Kennedy-Jensen and wife, Christine, of Portland; 11 grandchildren, James and Becky McTeague, Anthony Sellers, Emily and Amanda Fuller, Zach and Luke Jensen, Jesse and Brianna Barlow, Caitlin and Noah Kennedy-Jensen; a brother, Gerard Fontaine of Canada; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
She was predeceased by her parents; and two brothers, Robert and Bertrand Fontaine.
Muriel’s family would like to express their gratitude to Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice as well as the Hospice House. Their selfless dedication will always be remembered. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Roger Austin for the 20 years of exceptional care he provided to Muriel and her family.
