HAMPSTEAD, N.H. (AP) – A driver charged with causing a deadly crash had been arrested two days earlier on a charge of assaulting her daughter.
Janice Upton, 42, was charged with negligent homicide after police said she led them on a high-speed chase through Sandown and Hampstead. The chase ended after Upton crashed into two cars at a traffic light. A passenger in one the cars, Charles Jaynes, 64, was killed.
Upton was charged with negligent homicide, aggravated driving while intoxicated, reckless operation and disobeying a police officer. Bail was set at $100,000.
In the Friday incident involving her daughter, police say she threw the 19-year-old to the ground and put her in a headlock. Upton was arrested and charged with simple assault and released on $1,000.
