WILTON – SeniorsPlus will provide assistance for senior citizens this month in filling out tax and rent rebate applications at various locations in Franklin County.

The Maine Residents Property Tax Program offers tax relief to residents who own their own home or pay property taxes through their rent. People who are 62 and over can apply for a rebate based on income guidelines. Older individuals with an income of less than $12,700 (for a couple, $15,700) can apply for a rebate of up to $400.

Filing deadline for a rebate on taxes paid in 2005 extends to May 31, 2007.

Assistance will be available on an ongoing basis by appointment at the SeniorsPlus Community Center in Wilton. In Jay and Stratton and at Village View housing in Wilton, assistance will be available by appointment. Call 645-3315 or 1-888-234-3921.
