Auburn – Renaud H. Fortier, 78, of Hersey Hill Road, Minot, died Friday, Aug. 4, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.
He was born in Whitefield, N.H., on Nov. 22, 1923, a son of the late Arthur and Rosa (Daigle) Fortier. After graduation he served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He married the love of his life Jane E. Malia on Dec. 29, 1951. He worked for 30 years for Western Union as a computer tech and was a member of St. Philips Church. He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus Auburn Council and Knights of Columbus 4th degree assembly. He enjoyed hunting and working in his large vegetable garden. He also loved and enjoyed his grandchildren. He will be missed for his beef steak tomatoes and candy corn.
He leaves his wife of 54 years, Jane Fortier of Minot; a daughter, Susan Ann Marie Fortier of Auburn; six sons, Michael Fortier and wife, Susan, of Lewiston, Ronald Fortier and wife, Kim, of Pennsylvania, Robert Fortier, Richard Fortier, Donald Fortier, all of Lewiston, and Raymond Fortier of Buckfield; eight grandchildren, Deneka Deletetsky, Tiffany Lebrun, Serena, Derek, Danielle, Nicole, Justin and Jessica Fortier; and a sister, Yvette Lavoie of Canada.
