AUBURN – Clifford E. Marquis, 75, of Wyman Hill Road, died peacefully Saturday Aug. 5, at Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice in Auburn, with his loving family at his side.

He was born in Van Buren on Aug. 10, 1930, a son of Fidele and Genevieve (LaJoie) Marquis. He was educated in Van Buren and Rumford schools.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1948 to 1952.

Clifford was employed with Oxford Paper Co., retiring as maintenance superintendent after 37 years of service.

He was a communicant of St. Athanasius and St. John Catholic Church.

Clifford enjoyed skiing with his children, trips to Old Orchard Beach with his grandchildren, and fishing and gardening.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Priscilla (Lambert) Marquis; two sons, Neil C. Marquis and wife, Laurie, of Rumford, and David J. Marquis and wife, Cathy, of Waterboro; a daughter, Karen Eastman and husband, Larry, of Peru; a sister, Gloria Sirois and husband, Gilman, of Roxbury; seven grandchildren, Ian and Audrey Marquis, Rick and Bryan Eastman, and Lindsey, Emily and Ryan Marquis.

He was predeceased by a sister, Sylvia Richard; and brothers, Norman and Joseph Marquis.
