FARMINGTON – Emily Webber Lamkin, 99, of Farmington, died late Thursday night, Aug. 3, at her home in Farmington.
She was born on June 29, 1907, in Vienna, a daughter of Wallace E. and Myrtie (Parker) Webber. She attended school in Vienna and the family eventually moved to Farmington Falls.
She married Elwin D. Lamkin of North Chesterille on June 14, 1930, at Farmington. They were married by the late Albert G. Henderson.
She was an active partner in the poultry business with her husband. Elwin and Emily celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary in 1997. Elwin passed away in December 1997.
Upon their retirement, Elwin and Emily spent the summers at their Pemaquid cottage. The couple enjoyed traveling for both business and pleasure. Emily enjoyed crafts, gardening, tending her household plants and watching the backyard birds.
She was a former member of the Grange and the Extension Association. She was a lifetime member of the Norlands Living Center, a supporter of Franklin Memorial Hospital and attended Henderson Memorial Baptist Church in Farmington.
She is survived by her three children, Gloria Wiles of Farmington, Glenda Edwards of Lakewood Ranch, Fla., and Walter Lamkin of Ocklawaha, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Arlene Collins, and a niece, Flora Varney, both of Farmington Falls; a nephew, Roy Lamkin of North Chesterville; and a niece, Harriet Lothrop of Smithfield.
Emily was comforted by the nursing staff at Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice. Her family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation for their loving care.
