EAST WILTON – Susan C. Kelley, 61, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006, at her home in East Wilton after living with the diagnosis of cancer for 15 years. She was the wife of Charles Kelley for 27 years.

Sue was born in New Brunswick, N.J., and was raised in Bound Brook, N.J. She graduated from Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania and moved to Orleans, Mass., in 1967.

She was a special education teacher at Harwich Intermediate School in Harwich, Mass., from 1976 to 1991, and obtained her master’s degree in education from Worcester State University.

Sue moved to East Wilton in 1991 and worked as an adult educator for Franklin County from 1993 to 2004 and was a Literacy Volunteer for many years. She was awarded the Adult Basic Education Teacher of the Year for the State of Maine in 1998 by the Maine Adult Education Association.

In addition to being a lifelong educator, she had a passion for clogging with the Moosecreek Cloggers, snowmobiling with the Woodland Wanderers, quilting, camping on Moosehead Lake and spending time with her family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Sam Johnson, of Winchendon, Mass.; her daughter, Jessica Catino of Exeter, N.H.; and two grandchildren.
