NORWAY – Gerald M. Burnette, 69, of Norway, formerly of South Paris, died Saturday Aug. 5, at his home.

He was born in Thomaston, Ga., on Feb. 21, 1937, the son of Grover and Vera Odom Burnette. He was a graduate of Portsmouth High School and New Hampshire Technical College, with an associate degree in industrial supervision. He married Priscilla Dunn in Kingston, N.H., on Feb. 14, 1964.

He proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force and retired in 1975 from Pease Air Force Base. He had been stationed all over the world during his military career, including Morocco, Guam, Thailand, England and various bases in the U.S.

Upon retiring from the military, he worked for GTE Sylvania in Exeter, N.H. Later in life, the Burnette family moved to South Paris and just recently to Norway.

He had worked locally for Norway Footwear, Sears and Aubuchon Hardware. He was a proud member of Red Sox nation and a New England Patriots fan, and also enjoyed NASCAR racing. He loved old movies, especially Westerns. Yard sales were another pastime he enjoyed. He loved to be with his grandchildren, family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all.

He is survived by his loving wife, Priscilla of Norway; a daughter, Patricia Jones Cooper; and son-in-law, Andrew, of Oxford; four grandchildren, Patrick and Kyle Jones of Alabama, Ashton Cooper of Oxford and Jessica McGee and her husband, Joshua, of Germany; one great-grandchild, Iaidan McGee of Germany; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and special friends Robert and Sharon Nichols of New Hampshire.

He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Bill Burnette; and a sister, Bettye McClain.
