Church is open
PARIS – Christ Episcopal Church will be open from noon to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday for prayer and silence. The church wants to offer the community a place to stop and rest, to sit in silence, to pray to reflect. Christ Church is located at 35 Paris St., corner of Paris and Green streets. Hay day
HARRISON – The Farmers Draft Horse, Mule and Pony Club of Maine is hosting an Old-Fashioned Hay Day Saturday, Aug. 12, at the High View Farm of Bill and Darcy Winslow, Edes Falls Road.
Club members will hay with horses and draft horses beginning at 10 a.m. There will be a break for lunch, then work will continue until the last bale of hay. Residents are invited to bring the family and a picnic lunch. Wagon rides will be available. For directions, call 583-2204.
Vacation school
OXFORD – Children ages 4 through 14 are invited to attend Vacation Bible School from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17. Transportation will be provided from the church to the home of Linda and Steve Seamon, 466 East Oxford Road.
To register a child, call Linda at 744-0093 and leave a message with the child’s name and age. The theme for camp will be “Discovering Nature’s Secrets.” Each child should bring a bathing suit and towel. Bag lunches and snacks will be provided.
Activities will include stories, singing, games, nature walks, swimming and crafts. Transportation home will be provided if needed. Pastor Mike Ring and several adult friends and members of the church will assist in leading activities, along with high school students.
Blood drive
PARIS – A blood drive will be held from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, Route 26. Donors must be at least age 17, weigh at least 110 pounds and have no history of exposure to hepatitis or AIDS. Valid identification will be needed. Grange meeting
WATERFORD – Waterford Grange 479, Valley Road (above Melby’s Store), will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14.
The Grange will hold a bake and yard sale from 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 26, at Hooker Farms, Pleasant Street, Oxford. Anyone interested in donating items for the sale should contact Linda Hooker at 539-4572.
Farmers’ market
WELD – The farmers’ market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, at the Weld Historical Society, Route 156.
